Hello All, been reading this site on and off for a few months now and thought it about time that I registered. I did add to the best bargains thread but looks like I killed that one. A bit about me.

Originally from the UK and been in Melbourne for just over 2 years. Brought quite a collection over with me and since being here added a Wii to it

Machines are

Spectrum 48k & 48k+
Amiga
SNES
N64
Gamecube
Wii
Numerous gameboys (sp's and ds's)
Master System
Megadrive
Saturn
Dreamcast
Game Gear
PS1 & PS2
X Box
Atari 2600
Neo Geo Pocket
Neo Geo CD

Currently enjoying the new Moto GP 08 game on PS2 and most importanly love getting a bargain!

Used to frequent e2 games a bit and gutted it has closed down. Anyone know of any other indy gamestores apart from Gamemania and Gametraders?

I'd hardly call GameTraders an indy store, they're everywhere!

I know of a few in Perth, but not Melbourne Tongue

Welcome anyways!

Spectrums were computers that were never released here, pity they looked pretty cool ... back then.

thanks for the welcome. Wasn't sure if Spectrums were released here or not, I guess not. They were a tape based machine and were sometimes tricky to get games loaded, you had to mess about with the volume a lot. Heres the most famous model, the rubber keys used to heat up with extended play!

I have a few original games but normally play with an emulator and files from world of spectrum http://www.worldofspectrum.org/emulators.html . The files from there are all legit and have the copyright holders permission, it's very well run and they get rid of the games if the owner doesn't want them there. Melbourne House did loads of games for them including Way of Exploding Fists which was great at the time. Whether you will enjoy the games on there without the rose tinted spectacles that I have is another matter though.

Would be interested in knowing where the other decent gameshops are around Australia though as I get to travel a far bit. There is one on Elizabeth Street in the Melbourne CBD called Dungeon Crawl which is pretty good but it's just games they sell and don't really have a big retro selection.
